The Robert Allenby-Anthony Kim rematch will have to wait one more year

I'll be honest--the first thing I looked for when I opened up my bracket was to see how many matches Anthony Kim and Robert Allenby would have to win if they were to play each other again.  The magic number was 4, but with Kim's loss to Matt Kuchar, the rematch will have to wait.

For a day that should be one of the most exciting in golf, Wednesday's matches were overshadowed by Tiger's press conference announcement.  That, coupled with no Phil Mickelson in AZ, must have made Tiger's former sponsor Accenture not too happy. 

At least Golf Channel was able to focus on a few matches that we wouldn't have been able to see otherwise: Michael Sim-Ryo Ishikawa and Robert Karlsson-Rory Sabbatini.

As for the most suprising outcome from Day 1 minus the Stricker upset, Schwartzel defeating Mahan 2 and 1.

Foltz shows his prowess as TGC reporter

If you've been on this site at all the past year, you know that we have a great appreciation for the talents of Curt Byrum and Jerry Foltz of The Golf Channel.  Their commentary is fresh, insightful and heartfelt.  I like to compare our site to that of Awful Announcing in the sense that they worship Gus Johnson (their category for him is 'The Greatness that is Gus Johnson'), as we admire Byrum and Foltz.

Foltz did a superb job as an on-course reporter at the Turning Stone Resort Championship, and conducted a great interview with Robert Allenby, who fell one shot short.  Foltz was able to capture Allenby's sheer disappointment, while doing it in a respectful way.

Hopefully, we'll see more of Foltz, and Byrum, as the Fall Series continues.

Muirfield's greens are good, but best in the world?

After day one at the Memorial, everyone is talking about the greens and their spectacular condition.  They are running 15 on the stimp, and according to Justin Rose, are the "purest greens." Robert Allenby went out on a limb and said during his post round interview that they are the best he has ever played:

The greens are absolutely perfect.  The greens are the best greens I have ever putted on anywhere in the world, right now. You can take Royal Melbourne, you can take Augusta, these are the best.
