Ogilvy: I don't blame (Daly) at all

In a story from The Age, Geoff Ogilvy admits that he doesn't blame John Daly for smashing a spectator's camera last month in Australia.

I think every player on tour would have snapped, putting up with what he was having to put up with because it was horrible behaviour, apparently.

A guy with a flash less than three feet from his face for 20 minutes, just going bang, bang, bang, right in his face, trying to get J.D. to snap, and he did…

The guy wasn't even supposed to have a camera. I don't blame (Daly) at all.

Ogilvy frustrated over lack of respect

Geoff_ogilvy_shotGeoff Ogilvy's resume keeps getting more and more impressive.  Even though he has won only four times in his 7+ years on tour, the tournaments he has won have had some of the deepest fields, including the US Open and two WGC's.

Ogilvy showed some frustration over the lack of respect some of the top players in the game have been getting because of Tiger Woods' latest run.  He said in an article from The Press Association:

It's frustrating that everyone in the world basically says no-one else is trying.  He is too good a lot of the time, but it doesn't mean we're not trying.

Since day one he hasn't lost many tournaments when he's gone out on Sunday in the last group.  He's such a special player but the frustrating thing is that people think we're flying the white flag.

When he gets on a streak, you know it's going to end (sooner or later) and I know I'm going to win more tournaments, and I can handle that.

It's the chit-chat about 'is he going to win every tournament this year?.' That's frustrating to hear.

It might be frustrating for some of the top players, but it sure is fun to watch Tiger at his best.

Ogilvy's 62 goes unnoticed

With most of the attention on Tiger Woods' quest for the inaugural FedEx Cup and Zach JohOgilvy_geoff_06pla_0683nson's 60 yesterday at the Tour Championship, Geoff Ogilvy's 62 fell well under the radar.  Ogilvy fired an 8-under 62 which included 10 birdies and two bogeys.  Interestingly, Ogilvy finished his round before Johnson.  Therefore, for about 10 minutes, Ogilvy shared the course record with Bart Bryant and Tim Clark.  Ogilvy said the following about the greens at East Lake GC: "They're not fast but they're true and it goes where you hit it. As long as you hit it anywhere around the pin, if you hit good putts they're going to go in."  Ogilvy trails Woods by nine strokes heading into Sunday.

Ogilvy silently sneaks into top-10 in FedEx Cup standings

Ogilvy_geoff_06pla_0683With all of the hoopla surrounding Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson yesterday at the Deutsche Bank Championship, players like Geoff Ogilvy and Aaron Baddeley were almost completely forgotten.  Nevertheless, due to Ogilvy's T-6 performance, he has moved into the top-10 in the FedEx Cup standings (8th).  Baddeley finished in fifth place in Boston, and moved up to 11th in the standings.
