It h
as been a difficult year for Bob May. Before this week, he had missed the cut in five of twelve tournaments, and his best finish was a T-41 at the John Deere Classic. All of that changed today. After a bogey on the opening hole at the Frys.com Open, May, who is 217th on the money list, played his remaining seventeen holes at 10-under-par, including two eagles, and fired a 9-under 63. Many people expected May to continue to play well after his showdown with Tiger Woods at the 2000 PGA Championship, but that hasn't been the case. While dealing with injuries, May has struggled to keep his card and is still seeking his first PGA Tour win. Brandel Chamblee said on the Sprint Post Game, "Here’s a guy with way too much talent not to be having an impact on the PGA Tour. We know about how well he played a few years ago going to head-to-head with Tiger Woods. We also know about his struggles with some injuries. If he could come back, it would be very exciting. He’s a fun player to watch." May has a one stroke lead over Jason Gore.
