"The game is not growing"

I noticed in the July 5 edition of Golfweek magazine that Tom Kite made some pretty bold statements when interviewed by Jeff Rude.  I went to golfweek.com to check out the full interview on video, and here's what TK had to say:

We’re spending million and millions of dollars year-round on different programs from the First Tee…and all the PGA initiatives, and we cannot make the game grow.  The game is not growing because it costs so dang much to play.

These words hold a lot of weight.
