Casey responds to Vijay comments

Paul_caseyPaul Casey fired back at Vijay Singh after some comments the Fijian made prior to the U.S. Open about British golfers.  I pulled this Vijay quote from Jim Rome is Burning on ESPN:

Lots of them start out with the right intentions and the opportunities are there for them to become great.  But once they are on tour, though, they find themselves having a fine time and wondering, ‘why should I bother to work hard?’ Their way of life is so comfortable that it doesn’t matter if they have a bad tournament. The disappointment is not as big anymore.  There is another event the following week and they just move on.

We haven't heard Vijay say something this controversial since Annika in '03.  Well, Casey fired back, saying:

I am angry, he has no clue what I do, so how can he comment?...He does not know us and he has no evidence to back up what he says. We are all very frustrated that we have not won majors and that our results have not been as good as we would have liked. But it is not down to lack of effort and perhaps when we do make a breakthrough then it will open the door to a lot more wins.

I don't know what spurred these comments from Vijay, but players like Casey, Justin Rose, and Brian Davis are very hard workers.  Even Nick Dougherty has cleaned up his act.

I guess there's still no shortage of drama without Tiger around.
