UCLA, Chappell capture team and individual crowns

Ucla_2Earlier today, Kevin Chappell led the UCLA Bruins to their first NCAA team title since 1988, ousting fellow pac-10 rival, and defending champion Stanford by one stroke.  Chappell, a senior, won the individual title by three shots at 2-under-par---the only score under par for the week.

Interestingly, The Golf Channel opted to show highlights of the NCAA's 25 minutes into Golf Central.  It's a quirky call, especially after the network dedicated so much time to the event a couple of years ago.  I remember the lengthy coverage TGC had in 2005 at Caves Valley Golf Club.  At least we know their priorities this year...3rd round scores from the Bank of American Open-Nationwide Tour were shown before the NCAA Golf Championship.

Ron Balicki of Golfweek provides a recap here.
