Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo shot a 5-over-par 75 at the Golf Club of Dallas yesterday, finishing four strokes back of the last spot available for sectional qualifying. Romo missed a one-foot bogey putt on the first hole, but kept his round together, with an even-par 33 on the back-9. Eight spots were available altogether for sectional qualifying.
Even though Romo will not play in the US Open, he will still have the opportunity to play in the Golf Digest U.S. Open Challenge alongside NBC's Matt Lauer, musician Justin Timberlake, and contest winner John Atkinson. I've seen Romo play on television, and he has the game. If he was able to practice a little bit more over the offseason, I could see him being competitive on the Nationwide.
