Ames thinks TPC Sawgrass is too difficult

Stephen_amesLadies and gentleman, I believe we have found someone who complains more than Rory Sabbatini.  It's Stephen Ames, who was heard criticizing the toughened TPC Sawgrass after an opening round 2-over 74.  Ames, winner of the 2006 Players Championship, was reportedly heard by several reporters saying to a tour official after his round...

It's too &*%$#+ hard.  Go ahead, keep building courses like this.

If Ames had any clout, this would be reasonable.  But he doesn't, and his reputation has sunk with all of his bad-mouthing of late.  At this time last month, wasn't Ames praising the Players Championship, while downplaying the Masters?  There's a reason why Mike Weir was such an easy pick to represent Canada at the President's Cup last November.
