The lack of fans was certainly noticeable at the final stage of Q-School. While watching the final three rounds on The Golf Channel, it was evident that there were no grandstands, electronic scoreboards, and hardly any ropes. It's surprising that more people don't show up to the six-round final stage, considering that more than 100 players show up to the event, fighting for their jobs for next year. There were multiple PGA Tour winners on-hand and a reigning US Amateur champion. Bob Harig of ESPN.com writes, "...there are a handful of spectators spread out over acres of green grass, but for a golf tournament with so much riding on the outcome, it is almost eerie to see so few people, hear so little noise...for those with a chance over the next 36 holes, every drive, every approach, every putt becomes crucial." Q-School might not have one of the strongest fields of the year, but it certainly makes for one of the most entertaining weekends for golf viewers. It's only a matter of time until golf fans realize it's importance.
