Typically, we don't cover stories like this on the blog. However, I couldn't pass this one up. The Naples Daily News reported on Thursday, October 25 that the father of a 14-year-old high school freshman said that his son had three hole-in-ones in a round on Sunday, October 21. "It was just one of those unbelievable days," said Ron Molly, the father of Christopher, who aced holes 4, 6, and 12 on the challenging Arthur Hills course in San Carlos Park. On Friday, Paul Taylor, a 23-year-old aspiring golf pro, told the newspaper that he saw Christopher have one of his aces when he pulled a ball out of the 6th hole after only one swing. Taylor then said that Christopher called his mom saying he had hit another ace. "I think you have to give the kid the benefit of the doubt," said Taylor. But there are still some skeptics. According to Golf Digest in March, 2000, the odds of hitting one hole-in-one in a round are 5,000 to 1. The odds of hitting two hole-in-ones in a round are 67 million to one. The odds of hitting three hole-in-ones in a round are 2 trillion to one.
